Buachaille Etive Mor winter 2

Of all the places I like to visit the Buachaille Etive Mor is the one place that never ceases to enthral me.

“The Buachaille” as it is sometimes called is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive.  It’s name means “The herdsman of Etive” and is probably one of the most iconic locations in all of Scotland.

Buachaille Etive Mor is actually a ridge that is some five miles long and comprises four peaks – Stob Dearg, Stob na Doire, Stob Coire Altruim and Stob na Bròige.

It is Stob Dearg that presents itself as a pronounced pyramid shape when viewed from its eastern flank and it is this that draws photographers from around the world.

I have visited this place many times already – and will most likely continue to do so come rain or shine!

Whether I’m hiking up the trails or simply soaking in the scenery, the experience is always rewarding and invigorating.
Each season brings its own unique beauty, from the vibrant greens of spring to the dramatic snow-capped peaks in winter.
Exploring the wildlife that inhabits the area, such as red deer and golden eagles, adds another layer of magic to my visits.
.
The changing light throughout the day creates breathtaking opportunities for photography that I find irresistible.

Guisachan Guesthouse in Fort William is the perfect base to explore the Highlands of Scotland.  Why not check our availability and plan your next Highland holiday? I offer keen photographers either a half-day or full day photographic workshop which takes in the Buachaille as well as many other superb locations around the area.
