Grey Mares waterfall

Grey Mare's Waterfall, Kinlochleven

If you’re looking for a lovely and accessible waterfall in the Highlands, you can’t miss the Grey Mare’s waterfall (or Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall) in the charming village of Kinlochleven, just about 15 miles from Fort William by road.

The walk to the waterfall is super easy, starting from a small car park on the edge of the village. A gentle incline leads you to a series of steps into the glen, crossing a tiny footbridge and meandering along the burn to where the waterfall beautifully cascades over the cliff.

You’ll feel the refreshing spray from the waterfall, and while the route features a wooden walkway, it’s currently blocked due to its use as an access path for the Via Ferrata (or iron path) adventure climb operated by Vertical Descents.

This climb is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re up for a thrill and have a head for heights, it’s absolutely worth it!

This is just one of the many places to see when staying in the Highlands.  Guisachan Guesthouse in Fort William is a perfect base for exploring the area.  Why not start planning your Highland adventure now and check our availability!
