Buachaille Etive Mor winter 2

Of all the places I like to visit the Buachaille Etive Mor is the one place that never ceases to enthral me.

“The Buachaille” as it is sometimes called is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive.  It’s name means “The herdsman of Etive” and is probably one of the most iconic locations in all of Scotland.

Buachaille Etive Mor is actually a ridge that is some five miles long and comprises four peaks – Stob Dearg, Stob na Doire, Stob Coire Altruim and Stob na Bròige.

It is Stob Dearg that presents itself as a pronounced pyramid shape when viewed from its eastern flank and it is this that draws photographers from around the world.

I have visited this place many times already – and will most likely continue to do so come rain or shine.
